AzDrawing & AzPainter - download links
« on: March 31, 2010, 04:47:03 PM »
AzDrawing and AzPainter are small great progs.
They are much simplier than SAI, but still great.

AzDrawing is for inking.

AzDrawing has officially-supported english version (which is great ^_^)

Direct download link: http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA033749/archive/azdraw111_en.zip

AzPainter is for coloring.

Unfortunatelly, only japanese version currently availible, but I will have good news soon ^_^
Also is it two versions of AzPainter. I will give links for second version, because I think that second version is newer.

It has a perfect Photoshop hard brush with opacity, that's something I always wanted in SAI, it's really useful to mix tones (not blend) but for layering in colors. I'll wait till an English version is out but looks promising.

Thanks that helped, I even installed some of my good old SAI textures, very decent software, I quite liked the blending too, surprised that the program is so small yet the brushes and tools are quite a lot.

For some reason AzPainter won't load at all on my computer. I have WinXP with SP3, the visual C++ redistributables up to 2010, .NET framework up to 4.0 - does anyone know what I'm missing? Thanks much!

Nope! I see the load icon (hourglass) for half a second then no response. It doesn't even show up in my task manager's processes when I check for it. AzDrawing works fine, and the original Japanese 1.36 AzPainter works fine. ┐(。_゜)┌

http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA033749/archive/azpt208.zip

tried it with wine on LINUX. It works flawlessly,
but it's useless because tablet pressure sensitivity doesnt work.   :-[

Is there a way to make it use windows' default tablet driver (wintab?)
http://wiki.winehq.org/TabletSupport

that would make this application fully useful for linux and osx users without the need to port it to those platforms.

There is not one application of this sort on linux. Not one like paint tool sai, even with wine - they dont support tablet pressure. Will this one be the the first and one and only?  :-\

GimpPainter
« Reply #14 on: May 16, 2010, 01:33:55 AM »
Hmm, for those of you who cannot use Paint Tool Sai like applications, there WAS a Japanese project where they made a water color like brush mechanic to replicate the blending and painting via Sai, AzPainter, etc but for Gimp. and a more flexible line tool. It was originally made for Mac computers since they had no such thing available to them save the applications made by Celsys, but there is also an English translation and Windows version of GimpPainter!

Although, the website that hosted the translation is down... Here is the original Japanese. If you pass all those Windows downloads, you do find the Mac ones. c: Linux, I don't know. orz;; http://sourceforge.jp/projects/gimp-painter/releases/?package_id=6799  I'll update if I find one that is in English, if these aren't already. ^^
