goodbye sai T^T
« on: April 09, 2008, 10:26:33 PM »
I really love SAI but I can't use it anymore =A=
My dad bought me a Mac computer and . . . you know
It won't  work on mac os, even I try to use vmware fusion (XP64 virtual machine)
and it didn't recognize my tablet. virtual os didn't see any usb hardware

Why don't I use boot camp ??
It waste the time to switch between os while working.

' w '
now I'll go back to draw traditional (SAI can draw like natural hand stroke which PSCS3 can not)
I still coloring in PSCS3 and painter (not really) as usual ^ ^

=A= a whole complain

I'm not going to stop wandering here ^ ^
I like to talking with you all and I hope to see wonderful future update of SAI

sorry if I said something that look stupid ^ ^"a my English....

Really badnews  :'(
I'm use Gentoo linux and run SAI under wine, it works (but without pressure :( )
Maybe there is wine version for Mac? (MacOsX is really BSD in deep)

You could maybe try NekoPaint. I don't know if that works on a Mac but it's got that "natural stroke" like in SAI. Just not in English that I know of, Japanese only.

I tried nekopaint now I want it in english too! Looks like that will never happen, a shame because it opened a PSD with layers and everything, the brush engine was pretty good and it has anti-aliasing viewing, plus it's even faster than SAI  :o

I know someone who is translating the menus in FrameToon (the animation program by the makers of openCanvas) and recompiling the program to change the menus to English.  I wonder if he might take on the task of doing NekoPaint.  I looked at it and it seems promising.  Have yet to find out if he finished with translating FrameToon.

you can install a linux distro on the mac (you have an intell mac or a ppc mac?)

a linux will cost you about 3-4 gb space on the hd, but when you have it,you can run sai flawlessly on it with WINE (tried it myself)... curently only pressure sensitivity on tablets doesnt work, but wine devs are working on it as we speak:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11846
my best guess is that next month we'll have it working too..

wine is curently in a development freeze,so we will have to wait a bit, other than that they will probably release the patch before ver 1.0,which means that linux folks will have sai's pressure sensitivity working sooner than 1.0

ooh what do i see, there is WINE for the mac:
http://wiki.winehq.org/MacOSX
http://sourceforge.net/projects/darwine/

but i dont know its development status,it might not be able to run sai..

it would help if sai's developer had the time to write somewhere how that tablet driver works- how it gets info about tablet pressure...people with linux computers will buy sai to use it,since there is a big need for gra[hic software on the linux platform,Sai will only win from this !
