Thank you so much!I tried Moho once but it's not suited for traditional animation(frame by frame) and it's a bit hard for me to understand so I'm not ready to buy it(expecially because I'm no pro).

the tools are almost as capable as Painter.

SAI has huuugee potential for animation, im completely amazed with its vector implementation it works great with Illustrator!

I downloaded the trial for TVPaint and it is a great program.  It has many brush and filter features.  Only PD Pro comes close to what it can do as an animation program.  Thing is it's rather expensive (I think around $400 to $500).  And it is only sold by the French developer.  There used to be an American dealer (Mirage by Bauhaus Software) but they got into a legal tangle with TVPaint.

As for PD Pro this is a great paint program that also does animation.  I like some of its effects and special brushes.  Sells for about $120, though the lines it makes with a Wacom are not as smooth as SAI:

Yes, back in my DOS days when I was shooting my early animation on 16mm movie film I was trying to do animation on an Atari 800XL and a 386 PC.  I had Deluxe Paint and Disney animation as well as Autodesk Animator.

Woho sai is released for real! I'm planning on buying it but I'm not sure how well it works with paypal and those kind of stuffs if you live in Europe. Does anyone think it matters? SAI is awesome! <3

I'm in the UK and using PayPal was exactly the same an any other purchase!
it went really smoothly and all the japanese has been translated into english - which makes it easy to install the license key

You buy the license through paypal, then you are sent the password info to login or something, right?
Then it only lasts for 30 days, and you have to update with a new license after each 30 days??

- You cannot download the same license file more than 10 times per a day.
- Downloading account is freezed if you downloaded the same license file more than 30 times per 31 days."

So does that mean you could let someone else download it and install on their computer too as long as it's not over the limit? Would it still work on your computer and theirs too? Do you have to buy a separate license to install the program in more than one computer in your house - or do they just prefer that you did, lol?..

One license allows you to either install on many computers for use by only yourself, or install on only one computer for use by many users.

For anyone thinking of using 1.0.1 official, it seems the language config does not translate the paint brush/pen/pencil names, texture (Left side of screen), and a couple of texture options near the opacity settings on the bottom. Everything else seems translated though.

I want to buy this app for my son, the other day he was telling the tools that he will love to see in a painting program and this has them all.
Anyways, i`m going to use his credit card to buy it, can anyone tell me what company name appears in the credit card billing information...?...i want to give this as one of the gifts for his birthday and i don`t want that he finds out of this before the day of his birthday comes...
