[Solved] SAI freezes when bringing up the radial menu on WACOM
« on: February 15, 2011, 02:22:15 PM »
Since I've been Windows 7 64bit I didn't spend too much time with SAI, but the other day I was testing it and I bring up the wacom (Cintiq 12wx in this case) radial menu to change my brush and it simply flashed and dissapeared and the cursor stopped working and then SAI freezed. (Radial menu in SAI worked flawlessly before, on Windows XP.)

That's not all, the entire Wacom driver stops working (the driver doesn't recognize a wacom tablet anymore at this point) and the only way to make it work again is to restart windows or, to kill the windows service "Wacom_TabletUser.exe" and start it again.

I also tried to run SAI in windows xp compatibility mode, but with the same results.

This only happens in SAI; the radial menu works well, as it should be in Photoshop. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the driver, I tried to install another copy of SAI in another folder and I also installed new graphics driver. No success, so I think it could be a problem of SAI in Windows 7 or 64 bit, I just need a confirmation if someone is using the same config as me.

Thank you all very much.

I don't quite understand what you mean by "radial menu", but I used SAI on Windows 7 64 bit with Wacom Volito 2 without any problems.

Interesting thing.
Unfortunatelly, my small volito didn't have radial menu :(

But I can use SAI without problems :)

As temporary solution: install WinXP inside virtual machine (VirtualBox or VMWare or something else).

SOLVED! In Sai, I went to Others, Options and in Side Button 2 (tail side) I checked shortcuts. Now the radial menu seems to work again.

THANK YOU for posting this fix! SAI's been acting like the biggest jerk ever since I tried it on the 24HD because it'd flipflop between different functions constantly without my input. All fixed now!
