Buglist?
« on: March 28, 2008, 08:20:48 AM »
Wow so amazed to find this forum, been reading it for a little, but this is my first post. So just wanted to say thanks to the translator and everything.  Sai is such a great program!!

  Anyway, one thing I noticed on the Japanese board once was a buglist that after all is why Koji I expect is releasing trials for us, so we can give our feedback and help him nail down bugs.  So I thought it might be nice to start one here, and maybe someone can email him then with them, if not read them himself.  Does Koji read this board??

  So my first bug/annoyance is that the size change for the brush diameter is control/alt, which if you want to map it to the pen using a wacom it causes conflict problems. It also seems to be the only command in the whole program that isn't remappable which is funny since it's one of the things I use the most.  It usually ends up turning into an eye dropper, and especially in these later versions even picks up a color which it shouldn't do.

  Second the program seems to use it's own internal pen driver, which is good, but for those people using Cintiq's and tablet pc's it causes calibration problems.

Anyway, hope we can put together a list to make Sai an even better program! It's already the best!!

Good idea.

I don't know (he is not registered here). Probably he doesn't read.

Great thanks!

 Speaking of my second problem.  I bought a c140xl basically just to use with Sai, but there are problems with it in that the cursor is automatically calibrated by the program, different than the normal windows calibration that sets off to the right, which is very bad since it's blocked by the pen, so you can't see what you're drawing.   There was a fix for the driver in the registry for photoshop which also had a similar problem, a way to ignore the kernel that maps the calibration value.  Does anyone know a similar way to manually offset or make the program ignore internal calibration of the cursor in Sai?

I've written Koji, but he's probably pretty busy, so not sure he can offer a fix anytime soon..

I realized something after posting my last comment.  This problem hasn't occurred on any of prior tablet pc's.  The thing about the c140xl that's different is that it's a widescreen tabletpc. The driver in sai clearly isn't recognizing this and is calibrating the pen for a standard 4:3 screen!

Interesting I found this is the misc.ini file, ran it through the excite translator..going to play around with some of these settings:

;========================================================================================
;
; Paint tool SAI assistance configuration file
;
;========================================================================================

;========================================================================================
;
; Tablet relation
;
;========================================================================================
[tablet]

;========================================================================================
; Position where mouse cursor when blurring is corrected is displayed
;========================================================================================
;
; Only when below TabletMouseSimulation is 0, it is effective.
;
; Setting:
; 0. . . The mouse cursor is displayed in coordinates before the
blurring is corrected.
; 1. . . The mouse cursor is displayed in coordinates after the
blurring is corrected. (It is invalid in the S-n correction. )
;
TabletCursorMode = 0

;========================================================================================
; Bug evasion of tablet driver Ver6.0x of Wacom
;========================================================================================
;
; There is a bug in the multi display switch since tablet driver Ver6.04 of Wacom; The
phenomenon of the menu and the drop down list's shutting soon by SAI is generated.
; This sets the tablet driver to the mode to control the mouse event by the application;
When the display is switched even in case of being, the tablet driver controls the
mouse event without permission;The purpose is to come to do.
; If TabletMouseSimulation is adjusted to one, it comes to be able to use the menu etc.
for the time being.
; However, please note that there is the following limitations.
;
; - All the settings of the tablet tab of the option dialog are disregarded; -
The mouse cursor is displayed in coordinates before the blurring is always
corrected (TabletCursorMode is 0 always); - It malfunctions when the tablet
driver changes the mapping to the mouse mode.
;
; The bug like other following is confirmed to Wacomutabrettodoraiba Ver6.04?.
;
; - The Ctrl key is disregarded in the keystroke.
;
; Setting:
; 0. . . The mouse event is controlled with SAI; 1. . . The
control of the mouse event is left to WinTab.
;
TabletMouseSimulation = 0

;========================================================================================
;
; Color palette relation
;
;========================================================================================
;
[Swatch]
;
; When ending comment of the following setting is removed, it becomes the display of 16
×8 masses to the α version.
;
;Size = 11 ; Size of mass of palette
;Cols = 16 ; Number of horizontal masses
;Rows = 8 ; Number of masses in vertical direction
;Width = 179 ; Width of palette window
;Height = 91 ; Height of palette window
;ShowHSB = 0 ; Whether the horizontal scroll bar is displayed or not?(It 1= is
displayed that it 0= doesn't display it. )
;ShowVSB = 0 ; Whether a vertical scroll bar is displayed or not?(It 1= is displayed
that it 0= doesn't display it. )

I set them both to 1, it had an interesting effect of moving the point of the circle to the proper position, but the circle where it actually draws is still offset!! Strange!!

I have a weird little bug:
I'm using XP and a Wacom graphire tablet with the latest driver installed.When I'm on Sai the tablet's mouse acts as if it was the pen, it's position isn't decided like on the rest of the applications.

Ren,

  I think that's a function of the driver, I only have intuos, but it's standard for intuos mouses to have the initial setting of mouse,   but you can change them to act as a pen...

I solved my problem though! It definitely was the hidden setting in the misc.ini  I knew I was on to something the second I saw it.  Koji is so smart, he already had that setting in there, although hidden in an ini file, and in Japanese. lol You can set it to use either the internal sai driver or the windows wintab driver.  I had installed a registry tweak for photoshop that was actually causing sai to disregard the data and was giving me the funny results.  Once I took out the registry tweak, and reset the calibration in the wacom tablet driver, not the windows tablet calibration it now works perfectly! Hehe I finally get to draw something on my new tablet!!!

When dragging a Set/Folder/Group whatever you want to call it, into another document, it is given the name Layer instead of Set/Folder/Group whatever.

Mikan:That's my problem, my mouse acts like a pen and I'd like it to act like it does with any other application(like, say, Firefox).I'll try to look itno the options once more though^_^
