Anyone using MangaLabo and/or openCanvas?
« on: December 08, 2012, 07:30:50 PM »
Hello!
I am an amateur illustrator/cartoonist and have been using SAI about a year for my artwork.
(BTW, I just became a member of this forum.  Nice to meet you all ;D)

While ago, I found the below programs and realized they are AMAZING!!

openCanvas:
http://www.portalgraphics.net/en/oc/lp/

MangaLabo:
http://www.portalgraphics.net/en/cl/

I think they are much easier to work with and provide higher performance than SAI does.
Plus, I like the illustration on their website!
openCanvas replays the making of illustration and reveal its technique, which is a HUGE HELP for someone like myself!!

If you don't know above programs, I recommend you to try the FREE trial first ;)
Cheers!

I liked the pen in OC 4.5 A LOT, but version 5 had pressure sensitivity issues. Hope they fixed it.
Will check out Mangalabo someday :)

I have OC ver. 4.5 and have used it for color work outside of SAI.  I have tried Mangalabo and it is a black and white comic drawing program with similarities to the early versions of Manga Studio.
