Wow so much stuff has happened!

I'm not sure if CELSYS have simply been unprepared or are plain greedy... but not offering a Japanese to English licence transfer seems a quite harsh.
And it's pretty shocking how they've left the Managa Studio customers with only the physical version !
If everyone emails CELSYS asking for JP>EN licences maybe they'll take note. But like most companies, they'll be unable to disclose their future plans with the public. All we can do is wait and hope that they'll provide a serial conversion/upgrade to the English version.
It makes me wonder if certain keygen groups will start picking up on CLIP STUDIO PAINT now that MS is out of the equation ;p
There are 5 strings to patch, all in 8-bit pascal format (i.e. first byte is string length) starting at offset 0x1879EF. The idea is to remove the "_EN" from all "CELSYS_EN" strings (by overwriting).
Remember to finish every string with a hexadecimal zero, and to adjust the string lengths (by -3).
Nice spot with the CELSYS_EN in the language files krisp!
Yea, I thought symlinks would be easier too.. but they get delete/removed every time your reinstall CSP_EN. Could possibly lock them down with permissions/read-only access?
The other problem I can foresee is that any previous Material database/tag installs might cause some problems later on with the newer releases.
Or perhaps we're approaching it the wrong way?
Basically we want to use the English version, however our license is only valid for the Japanese version.
In theory we just need our JP application .exe//license to use the EN files.
So how about installing CSP_EN - and then overwriting CLIPStudioPaint.exe with the one from the CSP_JP.
This will allow it to use all the CSP_EN folders (however the CSP_JP application will create the material database in YourDocs\
CELSYS\CLIPStudioCommon and not \Settings\
CELSYS_EN\CLIPStudioCommon)
Another thing to note is that the applications differ slightly. CSP_JP uses CLIP STUDIO to manage the materials and CSP_EN uses the offline/local material installer (just like Manga Studio does).
Basically if you use the CSP_EN language files, you'll lose access to CLIP STUDIO. The CSP_EN is inferior in that respect.. but you get English material names ,'D
Obvious it would be much easier to use the official language files for ease of install/compatibility etc. (I actually prefer the fan translation.. totally not bias!)
buuut... the JP version does have downloadable materials.
So yea, I'm not really sure how relevant a fan translation is any more.
Overall good news though \o/
