nvrmd, i finally figured out what i had to do.  i had to make sure that when converting the layer to gray, that ONLY the black square was highlighted. so it would read read the image black to transparent (And not black to white)

Install material is gone from file menu. ?

Yea, they changed it last version. You need to use the CLIP STUDIO application for all material management now.
You can access it from the File > CLIP STUDIO Launcher...

Can you please tell me where i might find it in the launcher. i may be missing it. I can be  a bit oblivious.

Breakin' Goooood News 

Manga Studio 5.02 Ex can now accept  ".tos (Illustudio) files" which was not possible with the earlier version (Manga Studio 5.0) . Only CSP was able to do that before.
You can easily import (by drag and drop) and save or export in ".sut resident (MS5/Clip Studio Paint) files.

The new 1.2.7 update just came out! (Log in to your account to download the newest version.)

There's a few new things that have been added! I haven't attempted a proper translation on these features yet though, (I was supposed to go to sleep!) so there's lots of copy/paste translations which might not make sense and a bunch of untranslated tooltips.
I'll have a better look at it during the week.

Cool, glad it's working and thanks for the kind words! 
I've added some more STUDIO translations, the default tools (if you use these, they'll overwrite your existing tools! It would be better if you manually translated the few extra tools yourselves) and a I've included the license registration .exes (which are for Windows only).

trev, great work as always. Would you do a couple of screen grabs of the purchase and registration process highlighting where to click and what info to enter? I'd like to buy the standard version to tide me over until Smith Micro updates Manga Studio.

Thanks! I've not got much time to do that at the moment, but you could use Google Chrome (as it has an inbuilt translation function).
There's also a thread here in the forum with some more info including (digitoonie's?) excellent guide!
