PaintTool SAI on Linux using Wine

Figured out a fully working fix for the missing pressure sensitivity issue.
To fix it, just compile Wine from the Git repository, with the two "Workaround ..." patches I have attached to the bug on Bugzilla.

I absolutely love SAI and it's the only thing keeping me using Windows ( if only on a Virtual Machine) Now, I'd like to understand better how is it that you solved this issue, and I'd Really appreciate if you put a detailed guide ( since I'm new with linux )

Edit: OOOK, so, I installed Git wine, modified the files, and compiled from source, but now when I use the tablet the cursor just goes nuts ( although it seems to be detecting pressure since it's random scribbles do have thickness variation ) seems I messed up the modifications, right?

Did you apply both patches? There's one to fix pressure, and one to fix the cursor going nuts.

Seconding this!! Whenever I try to compile software, I seem to end up breaking things. When I tried to compile GIMP 2.8 when it first came out I ended up causing a lot of problems, so having a guide on hand would definitely be a big help.

Hmmm... SAI doesn't seem to start up at all under the latest Wine on the machine I'm currently using...

Attempted to install a Git installation of wine (1.5.19), and all I get is:

And then SAI exits/doesn't load.  Is it the newest Git?  Is there a known working version?

Edit: Dropped back to Wheezy's 1.4.1-4, and SAI loads but complains that SAI needs administrator rights.  Any way around this?

I've asked people at PlayOnLinux to make a special build of wine with these two fix scripts. Now you don't need to compile Wine on your own, just install PlayOnLinux, install SAI through it, set it up to work with Wine version 1.5.5-SAI (PlayOnLinux can work with multiple wine versions, you just need to download them through the manager - so download 1.5.5-SAI), set TabletMouseSimulation = 1 so the cursor doesn't go crazy (to get to the misc.ini click on "open the directory" in PlayOnLinux) and that's it

Patches for Wine are finally in staging, so should appear in Wine release version soon!
