Neko Paint is pretty awesome too, it has some menus in english:

http://www2.tbb.t-com.ne.jp/neko_paint/

If there was an english version I would buy it without hesitation.
I couldn't install neko paint for some reason & since it's in japanese i couldn't understand what was the problem.

Definitely not. It is absolutely different programs (neko paint is written in Delphi, SAI is written in C++)

Use AppLocale on it.
With AppLocale I can successfully run NekoPaint.

Neko Paint works fine on my XP PC no need to change anything, here's a screenshot:

Also Neko Paint has a much more robust brush engine with a ton of options, I really like some of the brush effects you can do by messing with the settings, it's much more responsive than SAI but it's not a replacement to SAI or anything, some of the tools in Neko are really unique that's all, naturally the interface of SAI is a tons better.

Wow, it's been a long time.
My pursuit of an ideal, robust and light painting software is still in progress.
Well, I have a Sai licence, but there are some issues that continue to bug me.
Anyway, I'm still not able to draw as freely as by oldschool paper&pens methods.

So if I might be of any help translating some piece of software from Japanese to English/Russian/(my French is somewhat terrible) - I'd be glad to help.
Especially, if the software is free.
There probably are tons of hidden jewels in the land of rising sun - someone might as well find them.
Since I suck at coding/disassembling and resource editing -- I ask if there's someone ready to do it and has some unique jpn software in mind.

2O:
I think we should translate Atelier (check first page of this thread for more info).
Right now I'm writing hsp decompiler (hsp - popular japanese scripting language), so when decompiler will be finished, we can continue translating.

Nice!
We'll wait.
Since Sai's author is probably drinking his Vodka+Soda mix on Hawaii's most expesive resort, having blackjack & hoockers 24/7, it'll be ages untill his cash runs out and he returns to working on Sai again, we have to move on and see some other software.

alright, its not as buggy, but i have two questions:

1.is it possible to choose a canvas size that is bigger than 999x999? Seriously,i need more space to draw, thats really low res! Is it possible to hack atelier somehow?

2.how does one use the pen tool (G)... with me its always unclickable. How do we make it clickable??

create new slice, activate slice (double click), than draw. related post -> http://sai.detstwo.com/smf/index.php/topic,111.msg780.html#msg780 (see last paragraph)

alright,i got it with the pen tool. There is only one thing i would like to ask... How does one use textures in that application. How come they take 40 mb and the user doesnt get to actually use them? I tried anything,it just doesnt give me the optionto use screentones. :(
