Hey! If you can keep all those emoticons in order, you should have no problems with layers!

So, tips that I would suggest include and are not limited to:
1. Use folders to group things.
2. Create a 'workflow' for yourself ... little rules that apply to any image you make.

As far as your second problem, FOLDERS. Put the layers you want to 'merge' into a single folder then flatten that folder. It will keep all the layer modes of the layers inside it correct. The resulting layer will have the same layer mode as the folder itself did.

Hope some of that helps!

(assuming that you took Memags' advice and checked your version ... if it's a version prior to 1.2.3 then the files here might cause your application to hang. And if the version came from Japan over 4 months ago there is a chance that it IS an earlier version).

That being said:
Are any of the menu options functional?  I see that they are translated at least. Are the menu options all greyed out?  Does the Tab button bring anything back to sight? Did you check 'behind' this window (drag it to the side) to make sure there isn't a dialog box asking you a question?

Finally, do you ever use two monitors? Rare issue that, but sometimes the menu's and dialog boxes appear on the 'other screen' even when it isn't hooked up.

So, as I understand from the site, the 1.2.6 release on 05 July 2013 is a preview release and the real release will be in mid-august.  Of course, I'm relying on Google to translate so I may not be getting the full picture here.

In any case, I'd love to hear from any of you folks who are trying it out!

But I don´t think it´s possible to LOAD/EXPORT specific actions. You can delete all actions of the set and save a new set with the desired action only, but it´ll be load in a new Group. Not big deal, but, kinda unpractical to share.

Hmmm. Looks like you're right ... it fooled me in my test!  But it looks like you can define your custom actions in their own set, then export / import the set for the purposes of sharing.

And thanks for the nice sketch-to-ink action!

Well, from what I can see, there is an 'import' tool in the action menu (the one on the upper left of the action palette).  CSP has more different menu's per palette than any other application I've ever used!

This would assume that you have a single action you want to import saved as a file somewhere.

Ah, Many thanks for the 1.2.3 Translation!  I've been looking forward to this update (I really love having the .lip files save with thumbnails! Makes finding things so much easier!).

Maybe I should donate again to show my appreciation!

Well, you cannot put in all the 'codes' without already having the program installed (It asks for the SAI machine ID, and you can only get that from running SAI).
Are you trying to open the file you downloaded from the license site? That file is not to be opened, only stuck inside sai folder.

I guess we need to know some other things ... Where are you downloading from? Is this an english translation (from this site) or the original Japanese version? Did you ever run it before buying it? What is the file you are attempting to open called? What OS are you using?

SAI General / Re: Highest Pixel Resolution?

Sorry I wasn't clear.

SAI cannot do 40"x36"@300dpi.

It CAN do 40"x36"@150dpi.

SAI can do 10000 x 10000 pixels.

For our purposes, dpi and pixels/inch will be the same thing.

So 40" @ 150dpi is 6000 pixels, and 36" @ 150dpi is 5400 pixels ... and 6000 x 5400 pixels are within the limits.

40" @ 300 dpi is 12000 pixels, and 36 x 300dpi is 10800 pixels .. 12000 x 10800 is outside the limits.

You could do 40x36" @ 250 dpi, or 33" x 29"@ 300dpi

I was simply suggesting that PERHAPS a lower dpi count might not be noticeable for CERTAIN kinds of images ... I don't know what you are making so it's hard to say.

SAI will do those dimensions, but not at any bit density greater than 150 dpi. For professional printing, black and white will do at 150 dpi but colour should be 300 dpi (these are, of course, considered minimums;  many workflows use higher).

So, before committing, do a test piece at 150dpi in your particular style and print it out and see how it looks (any photo printer and graphic software will do (just don't save it as a JPG for transport:  a PSD is best) ... just to see what the result looks like). Some art styles are not so sensitive to resolution degradations.

It's really kind of hard to tell from just your picture ... all of the layer thumbnails we can see are blank too so I'm not surprised that there is nothing showing on the document window (Since SAI thinks that all layers are blank).  Can you draw new stuff on new layer?  How does the file look in other programs?

Also runs great on 8!

Yup, I understand that they know how to do this stuff. All I am saying is that is never has to be in your 'recommended programs' to set it as default (as mewwolf suggested in his post).

And yes, I too have had this happen ,, but once I've manually selected it, it eventually is re-cached by the system. Sounds like AVG PC tuneup may force the re-cache sooner, which makes it a solution. Thanks for sharing it!
