SAI 2 / Re: Paint Tool SAI 2.0 available for download
« on: December 12, 2013, 11:53:24 AM »
Wow, I almost missed this thread! Thanks for the news.
Max canvas size for 64-bit version is 100000x100000 pixels! Wow, if it is as fast as the version 1, it will be a real pleasure.
Brush size limit is 5000 pixels now also.
Max number of layers has been increased from 256 to 8190
It supports Microsoft Ink API (TabletPC) so it will be possible to use it on any Windows tablet (x86) now.
It is obviously an early version with only few features activated, I will need to check for updates.

« on: December 12, 2013, 03:42:47 AM »Oh mon Dieu, jamais je ne pourrais assez te remercier ! dès que j'ai lu ton post, je me suis sentie super c*nne!C'est toujours bon pour l'ego de se sentir con/conne de temps en temps

About my last question,[...]Well, it will be simpler for me to start from the ground with an important detail (at the bottom as your post doesn't concern Photoshop)

Clip Studio Paint just like many other applications allows to control the spacing which has an effect over the result you will get using the brush density or the density of paint (I am using the terms from the official English version here).
Clip Studio Paint has been designed in an attempt to do "everything the others are doing", that's why there is these boxes

They allow to emulate the kind of brush stroke you can get in Photoshop or Sai. For example, as Sai doesn't allow to change the spacing, its density setting is pretty consistent when compared to Photoshop's flow (10% density in Sai looks roughly like 10% opacity).
So, it is needed to activate the "adjust brush density by space" if you want to emulate Sai...BUT, everything isn't as easy because:

I am using "narrow" as space setting

You can see that if the result in CSP matches Sai for almost any value, it is different for the max value (100%) as it is needed to deactivate the previous box if you want a hard edged brush stroke at 100% opacity.
This problem is also visible when using the "density of paint" as the spacing or the "adjust brush density by space" setting change the amount of "density of paint" needed to match the Sai's result.

The following tables show the settings you need to match the kind of brush we have in Sai

However the "color stretch" setting seems to depend on the "amount of paint" setting which means one table is needed per "amount of paint" value.
With these tables, you can create simple brushes which will be very close in Sai and Clip Studio Paint like this one:

Now about Sai's marker brush...this one is impossible to emulate in Clip Studio Paint

This very specific behavior is impossible
Concerning the Sai's watercolor brush, it is possible to do something close enough
The easiest to achieve is the blur like this one

The size pressure curve need to match the blur pressure curve.
Adding more settings with brush texture allows to create this kind of brush also

The more advanced Sai's watercolor are possible also (the one with low pressure=blur, high pressure=paint)

The pressure curve for the "intensity of blur" and the "brush density" are the same default linear "curve"

You can increase the "color stretch" also to get something like that

Or a more realistic brush

Have a nice day

« on: December 03, 2013, 01:38:50 PM »First of all, I would like to know if you can create a new sub-tool group, you know like one of these :Just drag and drop one of the tools to the tab bar like that (and you can later rename the category)
I have the impression it's not possible but perhaps yes?

Secondly, I don't know if I'm stupid or not but I just can't find a way to make colors work on an image I saved as material (??). I'm not sure if I'm clear, but when I make a brush , it stays black or in the color it had when I saved it as a material. However, some brushes from CSP can use a "line color" (a line with a color that can change...not really clear huh? XP ) and a "filled color" (? I have no idea how to call these, sorry (´∏_∏`) ), well just like these :I will paste here what I write on the official Manga Studio forum (which will be a better place for such question...if you want fast answer).
I used a red foreground color and a yellow background color.
The only brush I made that can change its color as I want is the square one. The others stays with the color they had when I saved them....I don't know/remember how I made the square brush and I can't figure out how it works (yes, I feel stupid)....I tried to copy the same values/settings the CSP brushes had but without success, and I'd like to know how to have a brush with a variable line color (??).
Also, if someone could explain me how to make a brush with a "variable filled color", I would gladly appreciate !
I hope you understand this mess (´^^`)
there is 3 kind of brush tip:
1-Standard brush tip using one color with opacity variation
2-Dual color brush tip using a grayscale from black to white and opacity variation. Once captured on gray layer, the black will be replaced by the main color of the tool or color palette and the white will be replaced by the sub color. And the combination of the two colors will be used depending on the amount of black or white (gray)

3-Colored brush tip using fixed colors that you will capture on any color layer.
(of course, if you activate the "ink/mix ground color" option on your brush, the previous behavior will disappear-> no dual brush, no colored brush)
Here simple brushes showing the 3 kind of brush tip (I need something simple for the animated Gif)

Oh, and you can change easily your color layer to a gray layer with this panel when you need to capture a brush tip

Thirdly, I wanted to know if there is a simple way to "translate" SAI brush values to CSP? I mean, is there a way to use SAI brush settings on CSP brushes...? There are lots of nice brushes using SAI settings and I'd like to have more or less the same ones on CSP, is it possible or the complicated-things/settings/values-that-make-the-brush-flow-this-way are too different between SAI and CSP?That depends on the brush. Bristle brush can be difficult but the others based on pattern are far easier. Did you have an example?
I tried looking for some kind of recap charts or some kind of matching values between these two programs but nothing...
I hope you understand my questions and I thank you very much for your help !
Have a nice day !

« on: October 11, 2013, 11:56:13 AM »1. are materials made between manga studio and Clip studio cross compatible? (I'd assume so)First, Manga Studio materials and Clip Studio Paint materials are not installed in the same folder so you can't just create a material in Manga Studio and find them later when using Clip Studio Paint. The materials are also separated between Clip Studio Paint Japanese version and the official English version.
However, I think you can edit a simple file to make the two programs use the same directory.
Now, if you meant about sending a Clip Studio Paint material into Manga Studio material folder using Windows Explorer, it is a bit complicated...
-Manga Studio 5.0.3 and Clip Studio Paint 1.2.7 official English version have cross compatible materials.
-Manga Studio 5.0.3 is the first Manga Studio version (equivalent to CSP 1.2.7) fully compatible with Unicode materials so it supports natively Japanese characters in material name and tag (no more of ? when trying to read Japanese material on our western Windows)
-Materials from the Japanese version are compatible BUT they are referring to folders that don't exist in the English version
ie. "単色パターン" folder is "Monochromatic pattern" folder in English version
That means when you will load a Japanese material into Manga Studio or Clip Studio Paint English version, it will not be able to find the folder hierarchy and so, the material will be moved to the root.
You can prevent that editing the file "layerData.xml" that you can find in each of material under "icedata" folder but you need to use your file manager and a text editor. It can be automated also if you have enough knowledge.
If you need, I have folder correspondence between Manga Studio/Official English/Unofficial English (Trev)/Japanese version to automate the process...but you need the right tool.
2. How do you import new brushes? You can drag them from Windows Explorer and drop them into MS/CSP user interface.
OH! One more thing, I know Clip Studio paint now has an official english version out now... but what version would be like the equivalent of Manga Studio 5 (not EX! like would it be debut or Pro?)?Clip Studio Paint Pro 1.2.7 is equivalent to Manga Studio 5.0.3

According to this page, a new Clip Studio Paint version 1.2.8 is planned for October 17th, just before Windows 8.1 release.
We will see how many time Celsys will need to release the English version

« on: September 23, 2013, 12:06:17 PM »(Abroad ... Distance far away .. file is corrupted..?)

As I was curious about this issue, I tried to install WinZip...who knows, maybe a new compression method was added lately...and your original files worked perfectly! As WinZip is not really a light weight free program, I followed your suggestion from a previous thread about using Bandizip and it worked also....
SO, WinRAR (even WinRAR 5.0) doesn't work anymore with your latest files as it seems they are using a different compression method. I did not suspect the problem could come from it because your previous files worked without any issue and because the latest WinRAR version was released 3 weeks ago when the latest Bandizip version was released in late august.
If someone else has any issue with this kind of multi-archive, try to use Bandizip, it is a light weighted free program that comes without any crapware and you can even download a portable version.
Again, I am really sorry after wasted your time 네로네로. You are very nice to spend time here translating the Celsys programs in English when you probably don't even need them as I suppose you are using them in Korean. Thanks again!

The corrupted file is 10 485 642 bytes and it should be 10 485 760 bytes (118 bytes missing), that's the reason Firefox is displaying 10MB when it is in fact a bit less.
Here what I got using:
-Firefox 24

-Opera 12.15

-Internet Explorer 10

-Internet Download Manager

-JDownloader

I tried also to download it on my Android phone connected on wifi
and 3G
(Look at the MD5 hash)
And here what my file manager is displaying on my Phone connected to my computer

and once transferred to my computer...

So, did you try to download your files to check if everything was ok because with all my attempts, it seems something is wrong here
However, many thanks for your other upload on 4shared, it works perfectly and you deserve much more thanks for your great work than my post about file corruption
I uploaded your file to MediaFire also as we don't need to register to download the file contrary to 4shared:
Download CLIP STUDIO English Translation(CSP127,CSC110,CSA110,CS104,CSM090) (MediaFire)

A new version of Clip Studio Coordinate (version 1.1.0) has been released today.
Previously, we could only create character or background. Now, we can create also object which means we can now add moving part to an object, or different texture also...and contrary to a background, we can move and adjust (scale, rotation) an object how we need in Clip Studio Paint.

« on: September 10, 2013, 12:04:17 PM »Cool! That's Clip Studio Paint 1.2.7. You can download it here
What CSP version is it, 1.2.7 or earlier?
Are there any changes compared to Manga Studio 5 ?
Does it have access to the CSP material market?
Windows
http://vd.clipstudio.net/clipcontent/en/lib/clipstudio/paint/data/127/CSP_127ENw_app.zip
Mac OSX
http://vd.clipstudio.net/clipcontent/en/lib/clipstudio/paint/data/127/CSP_127ENm_app.dmg
But just like Manga Studio 5, Clip Studio is not available.
In fact, Celsys needs to modify the way their programs work if they want to create a unique place to download the materials because for now, material folders hierarchy is 'hard coded' in XML files instead of using unique ID independent to any language...or they could create 3 different market places (Japanese, Chinese and English) which is not the best idea in my opinion. They could also create unique ID for default tags instead of the current system.
