Title: Brushes and Resources share
Post by: digitoonie on June 16, 2012, 07:31:10 AM
I'm pretty sure this will be useful once we all figure out custom settings in CSP more. Hoping making a thread dedicated to sharing brushes we make and find will be useful.

Working on putting together a set I made of custom pencil and inking brushes.

I've got 1000 free clippy points! (I think they got added after purchasing CSP??)
Maybe we can get some brushes for CSP?

Here's a link for the CLIP materials browser (http://www.clip-studio.com/clip_site/material/search)
Select these options to see CSP brushes:

I've not tried adding anything to cart though.
CSP will allow for import of IS tools from mid-July apparently
so I guess we could get some of the IllustStudio brushes too?

Hello,

here are some of my textured brushes (275 FREE brushes!). Mostly organic and metal stuff.
Some of them are adjusted, some aren't so you'll have to adjust settings to your liking.

Wow! Thank you for your generosity. These should be amazingly helpful.

This is going to sound like a noob question, but my experience with this program is kind of limited. I looked for a folder to install these files into both in program files and in the user data files, but neither yielded any results... how do you upload them for use, if you don't mind my asking? (And if this has already been asked, I apologize, I looked for instructions but didn't see any.)

It would be cool to see some samples posted of what these brushes can do-- the best ones (people keep mentioning the sumi ones for instance), or ones that do something special but aren't "stamps" (say, special watercolor ones, or other natural media stuff).  Just would be cool to see what these do.

You are welcome guys! Happy to help out.

SBerry, you could install the tools and try them yourself. Brushes by themselves mean nothing, it is up to your artistic skills.
IMO if you're looking for realistic natural brushes go for artrage or new Painter, maybe even Krita in the future.
As far as pencils and inks go, I am very satisfied with CSP, and blending colors is just relaxing (when not working for 15 hours).
All I need.

Here are two new brushes I just made, click on the image to get some "watercolory" stuff.
You can get nice effects playing with paper, brush tip control and comp modes.

(http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/7708/newcanvasc.jpg) (http://www.2shared.com/file/H4AjwWpf/2_brushes.html)

Only if we could put some textures on watercolor edge, we could make some pretty convincing watercolor brushes.
Looks nice to me anyways.

Yeah, I know where you're coming from. I'm simply in a place where I don't have 70$ to spare at all.  So I've not been able to purchase CPS, and my trial ran out. This, my more "academic" interest currently. The tool looks good, I just can't afford it at the moment.

Sure, but you can still test it ,just not save the files, right?
That gives you plenty room to try the tools and workflow yourself.
Good luck.

have you tried installing the 1.1.1 update Memag? how are your brushes doing?
once the 1.1.1 installer saw the old 1.0.3 "Documents\CLIPStudioPaintVer1_0_0\" settings folder with the brushes, it copied/updated them all correctly into the new 1.1.1 "Documents\CLIPStudioPaintVer1_1_0\" and "Documents\CLIPStudioCommon\" material database.

i'm running system locale for non-unicode applications in Japanese at the moment though, so i'm worried that having the system locale set to anything other than Japanese breaks the material/brush database. i'll report back if there's any issues!

You can use this in brush engine where you can set your various settings and behavior of the brush.

Well I just though I'd share it here. Although u guys probably have this brush already as its quite popular. I really like redjuice999's brushes. http://www.clip-studio.com/clip_site/material/search/table/thumbnail/limit/20/order/1/ctype/all?starget=1&search_word=redjuice&default_search_txt=%E3%82%AD%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AF%E3%83%BC%E3%83%89%2830%E6%96%87%E5%AD%97%E4%BB%A5%E5%86%85%29&search_toggle_switch=close&cost=1&corp_flag=1&clipstudio_flag=true&theme=1&tool%5B%5D=1&type%5B%5D=1 (http://www.clip-studio.com/clip_site/material/search/table/thumbnail/limit/20/order/1/ctype/all?starget=1&search_word=redjuice&default_search_txt=%E3%82%AD%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AF%E3%83%BC%E3%83%89%2830%E6%96%87%E5%AD%97%E4%BB%A5%E5%86%85%29&search_toggle_switch=close&cost=1&corp_flag=1&clipstudio_flag=true&theme=1&tool%5B%5D=1&type%5B%5D=1)

It's probably the main reason I got this program to begin with coz im a big fan of his works. His pencil and clothing brush is just superb!!!!!

nice and crsp penciling

BTW, you can import Photoshop .aco files as CSP color palette,
and there is a TON of free palettes there so...

Usually, there is a "price" of the material you want. You can see all the info on the left tab on the material webpage.

Here we see this "I do fear" model costs 300 gold or 3000 clippy's to download .

However there are free materials, like this fuzzy Seal (which is normal).
Free materials usually have  "Free download" button right beneath the material image.
You just need to press it and download the free goodies.

killaflip, nice use of the redjuice brushes! were you using them at default size? They seemed quite huge to me, but I was probably playing in 72dpi
;)

Memag, I've lost your 2 watery brushes and can't seem to download anything from 2shared (it's like an infinite loop ;(
Any chance you could re-upload them somewhere?

Edit: Just seen you can put a star on threads! Haha cool! Thanks Memag!

You just need to pres the lower/smaller "download" button. I tested it in chrome and it's still working.
I added few more brushes in meantime, some sumie and watercolor stuff.
Don't know if they 'll transfer very well since they have textures in them.
Let me know how it goes.

Here they are:

Hey Trev yes I was using them on default size. And yes, you're right it will be huge if you use it on 72dpi. General rule of thumb for digital works is a minimum of 300dpi specially when colouring / printing. 72 dpi work well if you are doing only black and white. I also find that colouring and most brushes won't blend well  at 72dpi. Hope this helps  :)

Thnx Memag I'm sure these brushes will come in pretty hand specially that oil and canvas brush.

They can be used in Manga Studio 5. I tried them out for myself and love them. Though the ones I download from Clip's site can not. I can, however, export brushes in CSP and open them fine in MS5. I was wanting to test out rejuice's brushes but I think my problem was that I have a trial of CSP.

I do have a "Cloudy" brush I made in MS5 if anyone wants to test it out in CSP.

Hello!
I was looking on this board a few days ago and notice that killaflip had posted links to some downloadable brushes on Clip's website. However, when I went to download them, I couldn't find the download button that would usually be right under the thumbnail when you clicked on it. Instead, it was this  (http://i46.tinypic.com/2qk2vd1.png)
I don't know why this would be appearing... all the other brushes that rejudice posted had the same thing under it. When I went to other random brushes, however, the download free button was available. I don't know why this would be happening... I haven't updated my CPL because I don't want to lose any of my brushes -- but I'm not sure if that is a factor or not. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Also, I created some hair brushes if you'd like to try them out!:

You don't download brushes off the website but instead clips studio's launch program. It should be the same folder that CSP is in.

Oh okay; that makes sense. I'll figure that out later.
To go onto another topic, I updated my CPS a few hours ago and I was going to a custom brush I made when I saw that it wasn't working properly -- the texture was all wrong and blurry. It worked fine on version 1.1 (they're the brushes I gave the download links for a post or two ago) but now its not working at all. I went to the settings to try and see what was wrong and saw that it had the 'color blend' setting on. I turned it off and it went back to its original texture, but it could not change color -- it stayed black. I think this is a problem with the brush tip; would anyone know any solutions to this?

Hmm weird, as soon as I changed the tip the color restored.
Maybe it's a bug. Make a new tip for your brushes.

Sorry guys if this is a dumb question, but after you downloaded the new brushes using the new Clip Studio Launcher, in which folder would I find the actual brush files? I already installed the brushes into the program, but I didn't do it through the "Import Subtool" option and choosing the file, so I don't know where the brush files are located.

GREAT NEWS! I *Finally* Figured out how to make dual color brushes. After an hour or so of dinking around again, I figured it out. So now before I lose this info to my own crappy memory:

How to make alpha specific brushes from a B & W material
(image tutorial coming soon. This tutorial assumes you already have some knowledge in making brushes for CSPaint.)
 ???----> ;D

Hello everyone!
I am completely new to this forum. I've been lurking here for a few months in the original post as a CSPaint user.  I got really excited to see that more people are using the program, and the english language files that are being put out are absolutely amazing. (I speak enough Japanese to get myself in trouble, but not enough to be fluent.)

The reason I'm making this post is because I am having a brush creation issue that I'm hoping other people are having trouble with too:
How do you make a brush that will show the foreground and background colors represented in them and changed accordingly? Specifically, when there are brushes that can be B&W, or can use colors that you pick for the FG/BG. Here is an example link (http://www.clip-studio.com/clip_site/material/search/detail/contentid/1412675). Here is another (http://www.clip-studio.com/clip_site/material/search/detail/contentid/1412107).

I have tried picking apart a number of brushes and recreating them to see if I can get anything to work, and I cant --if i make a brush from a material, it *always* ends up being an image-based brush tip in B&W without the ability to adjust the colors, and the color-bleed/color-mix palette won't let me adjust them according to the B&W in the original brush tip at all.

Can anyone shine any light on this? I tried looking in the original CSP.jp forums and found myself only able to pick out parts of the conversations without any luck. The term used for the brushes is "単色",  Tanshoku, which technically means single-colored (even though the brushes can show both the foreground and background colors.)

Help!

Ahhhh, thank you! I was just about to post here myself with a similar problem -- all my custom brush tip material brushes just stayed black no matter what. It didn't occur to me to convert the layer to an image material layer! By setting it to MONO instead of GRAY I now finally have what I wanted: a custom tip, non-dual-colored, "color blend" disabled brush.

(Because, for some reason, if I had "color blend" checked, my custom brush tip brushes responded to my color choices. The second I turned it off, it switched to black and it stayed black.)

Really appreciate you sharing that. I was convinced it was a bug.

Memag,
I'm trying to download and try out the brushes you posted earlier in this thread.  All the ones that came from 2shared worked (the basic first two sets), but any of the 4 later ones from SpeedyShare are not working.  They require me to have a Premium, payed subscription. If I click on the download link anyways (the name) it tells me I can't dl it for that reason.  It's these 4 I was hoping to test-

http://www.speedyshare.com/FaSrX/Watercolor-and-sumie-brushes.zip
http://www.speedyshare.com/sgg8C/Pencils.rar
http://www.speedyshare.com/TUUcS/Oils.rar
http://www.speedyshare.com/v5RfB/Memag-Flesh.cls

Is there any other way for me to get these?  Am I missing where the download them?

Additionally, I had 2 questions about installing the brushes I've already downloaded-
1) Is there a way to install them in bulk?  Or do I need to install them one at a time through the "Subtools Import" menu?
2) Does it matter what subtool I install them under?  I'm trying to navigate the fact that tools are under the Pen or Pencil icons, and Idon't want to make a mess of things if I'm somehow screwing them up by putting them in the wrong place.

Thanks!

Thanks!
Hm, strange, speedyshare didn't require premium, I don't have one as well.
Here's 2shared links. I have changed some brushes or added some new ones.
Feel free to adjust them to your preference.

Here is my flesh color palette.

I usually just drag-drop the files over to the tools palette and they get imported in a bulk.
It may take some time depending on number of brushes and your machine. You can arrange your imported tools
however you want, usually just by dragging the icons on another tool palette or on to the tools tab.
You can also change icons for specific tools. There are some properties in the right click menu.

So I decided to upload all of my stuff (brushes, swatches, patterns and textures) on CLIP material webpage.
You can download them (but login is required) from Clip Studio Launcher or from the website.

Which link does not work? All is good over here.
You can download the stuff through Clip Studio Launcher all you need is login.

When you do download them, please don't pack them and share them on CGPersia as your own.
It took some time for me to upload and make these materials.
The stuff is free and can be downloaded from the links provided.

Just saying.
You can download the materials from 2shared or from clip studio launcher (but you need login-created account on CLIP webpage).
I checked 2shared links and they worked, for me.

Hey guys.
I uploaded two "stitches" brushes. One is human flesh stitches the other is leather stitches.
Both are dual color brushes.Try using them on layers with different blending modes to achieve desired effect.

You an get them through clip launcher, as well.
Hope you find them useful.

Cheers!

I know. You already download these files or not? You need download these 10 files:
1- CSPAINT01.zip,
2- CSPAINT02.zip,
3- CSPAINT03.zip,
4- CSPAINT04.zip,
5- CSPAINT05.zip,
6- CSPAINT05_02(官方修正版).zip,

8- CSPAINT05_04(官方修正版).zip,
9- CSPAINT06(官方修正版).zip
10- CSPAINT07(官方修正版).zip
Unpack them. And open CLIP STUDIO. Choose „Install Material...“ (button «Gear» at the bottom). Click [Yes] in dialog window. Click [Select Material...]. Then select the file path: example (J:\...\CSPAINT01\) and clicl [OK]. For correctly installing of materials you need set „Japanese“ as „Non-Unicode“ (Control panel\Regions & languages\advance\) and reboot system.

questions!
1. CSP seems to come with materials 001 - 005 already (it also includes Paint100, at least in the 1.2.6 RC). So, are these the same? do they still need to be installed? i'm confused on this point. i see them inside this folder:
C:\ProgramData\CELSYS\CLIPStudio\Common\Material\Install

2. does installing these materials overwite anything or mess anything up if i'm using a newer version of CSP, like 1.2.6 RC

3. are these materials up-to-date?

Lower spacing, change brush tip, size and canvas resolution. :)

Try if you have textures on your brushes try not to use super high rez images or just take off the texture entirely add via layer effect.

Similar to brushes in photoshop. :D

Hey! I recently got Manga Studio and am trying to make the switch from being a longtime SAI user. So far I'm still learning how everything works but there's a couple of things I want to know.

1. are materials made between manga studio and Clip studio cross compatible? (I'd assume so)
2. How do you import new brushes?
3. Is there a brush out there that's like an equivalent of the Fine-Flat brush that came with the SAI translation pack? I love that brush and I loved playing with the settings for that one but I have no idea what would be a good equivalent on manga studio/clip studio paint.

OH! One more thing, I know Clip Studio paint now has an official english version out now... but what version would be like the equivalent of Manga Studio 5 (not EX! like would it be debut or Pro?)?

thanks!

1. are materials made between manga studio and Clip studio cross compatible? (I'd assume so)
First, Manga Studio materials and Clip Studio Paint materials are not installed in the same folder so you can't just create a material in Manga Studio and find them later when using Clip Studio Paint. The materials are also separated between Clip Studio Paint Japanese version and the official English version.
However, I think you can edit a simple file to make the two programs use the same directory.

Now, if you meant about sending a Clip Studio Paint material into Manga Studio material folder using Windows Explorer, it is a bit complicated...
-Manga Studio 5.0.3 and Clip Studio Paint 1.2.7 official English version have cross compatible materials.
-Manga Studio 5.0.3 is the first Manga Studio version (equivalent to CSP 1.2.7) fully compatible with Unicode materials so it supports natively Japanese characters in material name and tag (no more of ? when trying to read Japanese material on our western Windows)
-Materials from the Japanese version are compatible BUT they are referring to folders that don't exist in the English version
ie. "単色パターン" folder is "Monochromatic pattern" folder in English version
That means when you will load a Japanese material into Manga Studio or Clip Studio Paint English version, it will not be able to find the folder hierarchy and so, the material will be moved to the root.
You can prevent that editing the file "layerData.xml" that you can find in each of material under "icedata" folder but you need to use your file manager and a text editor. It can be automated also if you have enough knowledge.
If you need, I have folder correspondence between Manga Studio/Official English/Unofficial English (Trev)/Japanese version to automate the process...but you need the right tool.
2. How do you import new brushes?
You can drag them from Windows Explorer and drop them into MS/CSP user interface.
OH! One more thing, I know Clip Studio paint now has an official english version out now... but what version would be like the equivalent of Manga Studio 5 (not EX! like would it be debut or Pro?)?
Clip Studio Paint Pro 1.2.7 is equivalent to Manga Studio 5.0.3

Memag,
I am using the fantastic set of brushes you uploaded a long while ago.  In particular, you have these 4 great colored brushes (2 blue and 2 red).  I would love to have each of these in black.  You don't seem to currently have them in the set as such, and I can't figure out for the life of me how to change their color to black (or any other color for that matter).  I feel like this has been mentioned elsewhere, but I can't find it.  Can anyone help me figure this out?  These pencils are awesome, they're so life like, and it would be great to have them be more flexible.  Thanks!

Don't know if you were asking for them or?
Not sure why you can't change the color.Perhaps it's your basic canvas settings, or layer mode (grayscale, mono).
Try making color canvas and try the brushes there. They work fine here.

and some other brushes I use (watercolor, ink, oil).
