do you know if there will be and English translation coming out or will it stay in Japanese? As far as an official English version goes, that's up to the company, really. I don't expect one for a long time, though. A fanmade version could happen, but who knows? It won't be until after the finished program gets released that someone might take on the project.
other than that I can fully agree that this program is in fact fun to use.
Hi! Since you have been using Clip Paint Lab, I was wondering if you might know how to make a new layer. I can understand most of the rest of the program since it is quite similar to other programs that I've used, but this is just confusing. I can't figure out for the life of me how to make a new layer. It's probably very simple and I just can't figure it out. Just wondering if you might know how :)Ah yes! To make a new layer, there is this icon at the bottom of the layers window that looks like a page with a fold on the lower righthand corner. Click it to make a new layer.
I was wondering if you might know how to make a new layer.
Is there anyway to get 64-bit support for this? When I did as you said, whenever I tried to start it up, it didn't open at all, so I'm going to guess this is a x86 vs x64 issue. Also it never installed a x86 version so I couldn't try that either.
I am running 32-bit, and I am having the very same issue =/
It won't run.
Hi Monstrue,
I had to make an account on the boards just to feedback your incredible effort. At least in my rig (Win7, 64-bit) the translation files are working great. The first pack you´ve uploaded didn´t work for me (nothing happens after start the app), but the second upload worked.
I need more time to test this new toy properly, at moment I liked the Brush engine complexity. Looks like Clip have all the good features of the know apps (Neko, OC, AzDrawing and SAI).
...Also, do you have ANY idea where to begin if I were to say try translate this for the Mac version?...
I guess your 0.6.0 translation files aren't compatible with 0.7.0? :<
haha really? So what is wrong here?
I test the file in other computer and it work fine too... I use XP sp2 in my Notebook and it work too so I don't know what is going on
Did you try this file?>> http://www.mediafire.com/?8erg79qced2161q (http://www.mediafire.com/?8erg79qced2161q)
I replaced the files my self already and I test it too...
The file has been downloaded 13 times so please... tell me if there somebody can use it
...please, ANYONE? >XP
Alright, here (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=T58JRKM8) are the Mac files. Hopefully you can do something with them~
Good news I have a freetime the rest of this weak so today I'll start with the translation of the 0.7.0 version...but I don't have clip account so please I need to know if this is the last release or if it isn't, please share the last file version with me to the new translation
see ya ;)
der derp
the latest version here VVVV
http://www.mediafire.com/?571n0sl8emdvit8 (http://www.mediafire.com/?571n0sl8emdvit8)
Thanks for the files...It's going fast, I'm done with the entire menu already YAY!!!!!
WOW :o
Monstrue please sort out the translation. This app responds to Wacom pen rotation! Only Painter and Photoshop does that.
This is an awesome app. They must market this outside Japan. People are crying out for something like this. Corel Painter 12 is buggy with memory leaks and stuff. Photoshop is extortion cost. The best things are actually Gimp and Mypaint on Linux which is the OS I usally use.
Anyone tried importing pattern from image? It puts the image on a layer but you have tranformation tools to move the pattern around as tiled image.
...the brush patterns are obviously bitmaps of some kind but is there any way to create your own? They reside in a folder called Material and have an extension of .layer.well, I open the file with an HEX editor and it have a lot of code of the brush preferences and some symbols that looks to be the bitmap code but I cannot replace them or create new ones because they are not .png, .bmp or .jpg code |=/
IT'S DONE!!!! HOLLY MOTHER OF ALL THE GOODNESS!!!
This translation was a pain...! but anyway it was kinda fun 8)
Translated files to the version 0.7.0>> http://www.mediafire.com/?ufejr9m6cp1r8r4 (http://www.mediafire.com/?ufejr9m6cp1r8r4)
just replace your files "742DEA58-ED6B-4402-BC11-20DFC6D08040" and "E79C2AC5-BC3F-4838-9E87-F49B629F84B5" for the translated files...It should work for all the versions 0.7.0: x86, x64 and MAC ;)
Have fun!!
Note: for the Win version, only replace the files in the folder: "resource/other"...I don't know to MAC ;D
Oh my gawd..
Does any1 know the shortcut to increase and decrease brushsize in this app??
The Ctrl+Alt+drag type, does it exist?? Not the [ ] stuff....
I am begging you save me from the misery lol xD
Trying to find the files to replace on my Mac, but no luck. If somebody knows how to find the files, let me know.
Found the files. Oh Apple and your tricky, tricky file hiding~Thank you, it works like a charm!
First, right-click the 'CLIP PAINT Lab' application (not the alias, the actual application) and click 'Show Package Contents'. The application is actually a disguised folder. Once you're in there, you can navigate to Contents/Resources/other/ and replace the interface files with Monstrue's translations.
Sorry, but does someone know where can I download this program? I saw a link on this topic, but it's broken...
Other thing: the translation is very good, I hope i can use it one day! ;D
pd: does the translation work for the version 0.7.1 in mac, or I did something wrong?

So today marks the day when you can no longer use CLIP Paint Lab versions 0.6 and 0.7. Seems like now only 0.7c is available to use.
Hopefully an updated English patch will come out at some point.
I wouldn't mind paying for it either, if it comes in english. Provided it's about the same price as SAI, of course. If it costs as much as Adobe, I think I'll just stick to photoshop. There's just one thing bugging me though. Does anyone know how to set opacity to pen pressure? I can't seem to be able to find that option. Only density and thickness, etc. There's probably an option in the brush editor, but as I don't speak Japanese I can't find it right now.

There's probably an option in the brush editor, but as I don't speak Japanese I can't find it right now.I tried searching for it when I was still using version 7.0, but it only enabled me to adjust the opacity level manually, not allowing me to toggle it to pen pressure. (the arrow icon wasn't available for opacity) I don't see it in 7.0c either, but my japanese is close to useless so I'm still hoping that it's actually there, just that I can't find it since I can hardly understand the words.

I guess we'll see about that one when (if) we get another translation.
Also, I'll be looking forward to illust studio for mac. There's another thread about this in the illust studio section, if I'm not wrong. I just hope someone will be kind enough to do a translation patch for it as well.I hope so too. 8)

It almost looks like they'll have an OSX build of IllustStudio on November 4!
But from the pattern a new beta is released every monthish. Wonder what features the new one will bring. This beta will be available to use until mid December, so yeah, you could say there will be a new beta soonish.
PHOTOSHOP EXPORT!!!! <3SWEEEET! And $150 is definitely not a bad price for what they're offering. It's just a tad more expensive than SAI, but this program in many ways exceeds it. That only makes me wonder what will happen to Manga Studio here in the States. I guess if Smith Micro wants to continue selling Celsys products, they may have to license CPL.
And also from the message I got CPL (official name Clip Studio) will be on sale around spring 2012 and should cost roughly $150
From the letter I got looks like they're going to be combining comicstudio (manga studio) and illluststudio for this project. And they're discontinuing those two softwares after 2013.

Does anyone know how to save on Clip Paint Lab 8?
I always get this pop-up that asks me to fill in two text boxes...I'm guessing the serial code goes here?
Help please!
edit: here is a screenshot of what I get whenever I try to save manually or ctrl+S:
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a208/feniza/clippaintlab.jpg
I'm going to guess that the first box is the email address you used to register at CLIP, and the second box is the password they sent you. I'm not sure if that's exactly it since my dialogue boxes all showed "? ? ?"s, but I did CTRL+S and inserted the address and password and was allowed to save.Thank you so much! It worked!
So see if that works. C:
I'm using 0.8.1 and I can't save anything; when I try to it asks for a serial code, like so: http://i.imgur.com/84nXB.png
Obviously I've got no serial code (are serial codes for Paint Lab even available?!) so I'm really not sure what to do, as it doesn't give me any other options. Is anyone else having this problem?
Looks about the same as illustudio2 which I've been using for the last year or so...dont seen anything new or interesting in it.
Performance is boosted and considerably so, even in v 06. It's 64 bit application!
Also there is toolbar on the right side where all assets can be found (word balloons, 3d objects, patterns, backgrounds ...).
Also brush engine is updated and I can see quite a few options added, for once I love brush modes (multiply, color dodge etc.) for many brushes not just airbrush.
UI is changed.Added things from Comic studio ( like word ballons, FX...).
Sure it looks like IllustStudio, but it is new gen hybrid of IS and CS.
I miss custom and perspective rulers.
Also, English version.
Manga Studio maybe, but not so sure about illuststudio since that and clip paint are so similar. Maybe update releases with the current software I can see. Also by now we would hear something about a new version of CS or IS if there was going to be a new version.
Well, I suppose I better start saving my money now. Looks like Celsys is putting their all into this one program. It's becoming more of a Photoshop rival than a SAI one.

Here are the resource files you need (32,64bit).

I'll post the whole package link once it is uploaded.
Can't you export as text file, auto-translate in another program and then import it again in hexeditor?
Great!
I don't know if I should install Japanese language to see the symbols in hex editor?
I did opened files in hexeditor but it was a mess, pile of system substitution for Japanese I gather.
Maybe I could help out somehow?
Well, good luck! ;DThanks...but I not need it...I´m awesome. 8)
Is that why they removed all their programs from selling vendors?? You have to rent the programs now?
Any updates?
I'm willing to give this a shot, but, when I open the files on my Mac with Hexfiend, they show a lot of garbled characters. I'm not sure what encoding or byte size options I should be picking or if I'm doing something else wrong.
I have a friend who speaks Japanese and is (graciously) willing to do the work, I just need to know how to edit the files. Any updates on the previous effort, or advice about editing the files for my own, would be appreciated. I'd be sure to release the patch to the public.
Thanks!
I already have Japanese language support built-in to OS X Lion to my knowledge (Japanese sites show fine, etc.). The files in the Resources>Other folder still show garbled when I open them.

I see the price in yens, not in $.
Where did you see it, does that mean it will be available in english?
The basic Clip Studio will be 120-150
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v453/rallysfa/Screenshot2012-03-15at75532PM.png)
The Clip Studio EX or whatever they'll call it will be around 230-300.
I only focused on the one coming out in may.
Which I may just get the basic version because I already own manga studio EX and I can do the 3D and stuff there.
Not unless someone license it in English. But I hear smith micro who already does translate their programs may pick it up and continues to keep it under the name "Manga Studio" if they do, good call on them. I still want to pick up the Japanese version because Micro takes forever with software updates.
Fortunately the english manga studio the serial numbers does work on the Japanese site.
Really like how the update handles screentones now. ;A;
Now I'm hoping that Clip will accept my MS serial and not ask me to put in the disk. Just thought it might not read since it's reformated for US.
Course I could probably import a copy of comicstudio.
I downloaded the latest version. And for some reason ever since they added the trial keys, i have not been able to get into the program. It brings me around in circles. Is anyone else getting this problem.. I select trial key, go through, enter my account, get the key, and BACK AT the beginning again!! I go through AGAIN and get another KEY. ANd once again back at the starting dialog...
Am i doing something wrong? :-\
Is there a step-by-step guide up for legally purchasing and using Clip for English users yet? Any 8.3 translations?
It seems that the translation doesn't work anymore :(
Fortunately the english manga studio the serial numbers does work on the Japanese site.
http://www.clip-studio.com/clip_site/download/icstudio/icetc/exportcsd I tried it on this and it work just fine.
fIRST! :)
A new release of Clip Paint Lab is here. It's the 0.8.4
Great !
I install CPL 8.0.2 to get full option right and now I can't save my work even when I'm connected on the site.
Don't know what to do.
There will be Clip Studio PRO release at the end of the month.
http://www.clipstudio.net/paint/functional_list (http://www.clipstudio.net/paint/functional_list)
I've read through the thread and everything but I didn't see any information on this - though it's totally possible I'm blind
BUT ANYWAYS
Is there a way to add new brushes ala Sai? Or convert Sai brushes? I know you can change the settings on the brushes and everything, but I have a rather large brush pack for Sai that I bought and love and I would really like to use it on CPL :c
I hope we have doctors on staff to medicate once the 31st hits.
if only they would make a translation! - I'm guessing its going to be like illustudio where every new version means another translation is needed... sigh
Who works with 1200dpi anyways?
Working just fine with me.
Did it accept your Manga Studio key?
Keep getting "download interrupted" here
Had to shell out the 60 bucks. But it's well worth it.
Pfffffff $60 bucks. When illustrator is like what 600+ I'm amazed it's so low. And yet if it were on the iPad everyone would want it for $2
Will buy it soon, anyone on a mac try it out yet? I need test it on my macbook air 11" but will be buying it for a windows tablet when I get that.
It seems that if you bought IllustStudio within the last 12 months, you're eligible for a free upgrade/download of CSP-PRO http://www.clipstudio.net/paint/warm_treatment
So I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to buy IllustStudio (¥5190 from Amazon.jp) and get the free CSP-PRO upgrade?
That way you have 2 programs for the price of 1!
BUT,
- A 3rd party shipping service will be needed to get anything overseas from Amazon.jp which will cost extra.
- You'll only really be using one painting program
- We've managed to translate IllustStudio .dlls while CSP seems to require hex editing of the .exe?
- Will support for IllustStudio completely stop now that CSP has been released?
- If you have the free upgrade CSP-PRO, would that still count towards the CSP-EX version upgrade for ¥17000?
Should I forget about IllustStudio and just go the CSP-PRO (¥5000) -> CSP-EX Upgrade (¥17000) route?
Why do CELSYS make it so difficult to acquire their applications QQ
Edit: I've decided to forget about purchasing IllustStudio for now.
It's a good idea! However, the language file has to retain the exact same structure.
If any of the bytes that aren't text get overwritten, moved or deleted, then CSP will fail to open and hang on launch.
That's why you've literally got to go through it manually and try to find English words that will fit into the byte order of the Japanese ones :(
Why not just make a few side by side images with the translations instead of editing the hex? This would be a bit more future proof and you start to remember what each command is after a few uses.
Whenever I open CSP, it just stays open for about 2-5 seconds, then it quits.First there is a forum for this program now..
What do I do? :/
